Abstract

How well is creativity being supported? Are good economic and political decisions being made, and are they likely to fulfill creative potentials of today’s youth? These important questions were addressed by examining the public records for government funding. Two web sites, one for the Department of Education (DOE; www.ed.gov) and other the National Science Foundation (NSF; www.nsf.gov), were examined. The DOE and NSF data reported herein suggest that the US government is doing a poor job of investing in creativity research. The DOE is apparently not investing in creativity at all, and NSF is investing significantly less in creativity than in intelligence, academic ability, and even memory.
