Abstract

This article discusses an interesting phenomenon related to scientific discoveries - multiple discovery. Multiple discovery refers to a scientific discovery that has more than one originator. To facilitate reading, this article is organized into five sections. The first section, Introduction, introduces the phenomenon of multiple discovery. The second section advocates that this phenomenon be placed within the theories of creativity. The third section offers examples of multiple discovery from different domains. The forth section discusses the four main theories of multiple discovery and the possibility that they can be integrated. Section five offers predictions concerning the future of multiple discovery events.
